Bedtime Heroes ("we," "our," or "the App") is a children's bedtime story creation application developed by Portegno SA. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our App.
Summary: Bedtime Heroes is designed with privacy in mind. We collect only what is needed to provide the service. We do not sell your data. Stories and characters you create belong to you.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account Information
You can use Bedtime Heroes anonymously without providing any personal information. If you choose to sign in, we collect:
- Google Sign-In: Name and email address from your Google account
- Apple Sign-In: Name and email address from your Apple ID (you may choose to hide your email)
1.2 Content You Create
When you use the App, we store the content you create:
- Stories: Story text, titles, themes, and generation settings
- Characters: Character names, descriptions, types, and age ranges
- Photos: Character photos you upload from your device
- Audio recordings: Voice narrations you record for your stories

- Language and country preference
- Target audience age range (used to tailor story content)
1.4 Usage Data
We collect basic usage events to improve the App:
- App opens, story creations, and feature usage (no third-party analytics services are used)
- Device platform (iOS or Android)
- Subscription status
2. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process your personal data based on the following legal grounds:
- Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR): Processing necessary to provide the App's services — account management, story generation, content storage, and subscription management
- Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): Aggregated usage analytics to improve the App, fraud prevention, and service security. You may object to processing based on legitimate interest by contacting us.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR): When you voluntarily upload photos or record audio narrations. You may withdraw consent at any time by deleting the content or contacting us.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Story generation: Your story settings, character descriptions, and photos are sent to AI services to generate personalized stories, cover images, and audio narrations
- Service improvement: Aggregated, anonymized usage data helps us improve the App
- Subscription management: Account information is used to manage your subscription and restore purchases
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to provide the App's features:
4.1 AI Content Generation
When generating content, we send character names, descriptions, story themes, and (when applicable) character photos to these services. We do not send your email, real name, or account information to AI providers.
4.2 Infrastructure & Payments
- Google Firebase — Authentication, data storage, file hosting. Firebase Privacy
- RevenueCat — Subscription and in-app purchase management. RevenueCat Privacy Policy
- Apple App Store / Google Play — Payment processing for subscriptions (we do not have access to your payment card details)
5. Data Storage & Security
- Your data is stored securely on Google Firebase servers
- All data is transmitted using HTTPS encryption
- Each user's data is isolated and accessible only to their authenticated account
- Character photos and audio files are stored in Firebase Cloud Storage with access controls
6. Children's Privacy
Bedtime Heroes is designed for families. The App allows parents and caregivers to create stories for children.
- The App does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13
- The App is intended to be used by parents or guardians to create content for their children
- Character names and ages entered in the App are fictional story characters, not personal data of real children
- The audience age range setting (used to adjust story complexity) is stored locally on the device and does not identify any individual child
- No behavioral advertising or profiling is performed
7. Device Permissions
- Microphone: Required only if you choose to record voice narrations for stories. You can deny this permission and still use all other features.
8. Data Retention & Deletion
- Your stories, characters, and recordings are retained as long as your account exists
- You can delete individual stories or characters at any time from within the App
- Deleting a story removes its text, cover image, and audio files
- To request complete account deletion, contact us at gabriel@portegno.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
- Anonymous accounts that remain inactive for more than 12 months may be automatically cleaned up
9. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Data is shared only with the service providers listed in Section 4, solely to provide the App's features.
10. International Data Transfers
Your data may be processed in servers located outside your country of residence, including the United States, through our use of Google Firebase, OpenAI, ElevenLabs, and RevenueCat services. These transfers are necessary to provide the App's functionality.
For users in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland: our third-party service providers maintain appropriate safeguards for international data transfers, including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission and/or adequacy decisions where applicable. You may request a copy of these safeguards by contacting us.
11. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Restrict or object to certain processing of your data
- Withdraw consent at any time (without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing)

11.1 Right to Lodge a Complaint
